craftyhunnypie
Hi, made blackcurrant jelly without my thermometor & it hasn't set! The question is, if I re boil it & use my lakeland jam thermometor would it set? I mean can you re boil jam / jelly? Otherwise, I have far too much ice cream sauce! Christian
Yes Emma you can Put a saucer in the fridge and when the jam has boiled for a while, spoon out a little onto the saucer. Let it cool, then push your finger through it. If a skin forms, it is ready. I broke my thermometer last year!
craftyhunnypie
Ooo thanks Christian! I shall be boiling it up again tomorrow. I was very upset when it turned out so runny as it tasted so nice. I shall soon be begging some Christmas hamper ideas & recipes off you, as I really want to make about 5 or 6 & yours always make me so Greengage jam to make too - as requested by hubby! Mrs Webmuppet
You could try adding a little lemon juice as that helps the setting process. And Christian you have started something in this household ........Little Miss Webmuppet and I have been slaving in the kitchen all day cooking up all kinds of goodies. Sorry! If all else fails Emma, get hold of some certo from the supermarket. Anything you add to it sets like concrete!
