Hellcat
Now I'm confused - 'Happy Talk' IS south Pacific, isnt it, Revnev? You being the hexpert and all that...
Guest
it is indeed! - sung by Bloody Mary as she tries to describe how great the world would be if Lieutenant Cable married a 17 year old girl she had found for him.... Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk,Talk about things you'd like to do. You got to have a dream, If you don't have a dream How you gonna have a dream come true? It is possible (nay probable!!) that Richard is thinking of the (more famous) Captain Sensible version that (I believe) got to number one sometime in the early eighties..... The Dogmother
Ooops, got myself muddled - had Snow White singing it in my head for some reason . I don't have to watch much Disney these days (thankfully)
Diana1
When the sky is a bright canary yellow I forget every cloud I've ever seen They call me the cock-eyed optimist Imature and incurably green This is also from South Pacific - a film I love. I think one verse goes They say the human race has fallen on its face and hasn't very far to go when every whip or will is telling me it still ain't so So it just goes to show you they thought the 'human race' was making pretty big mistakes back then. There will always be those with a cup half full and those with one half empty. Which reminds me must pay a visit to the Omlet Bar!
Hellcat
'Some day my prince will come Some day he'll come along..' I DO have to watch plenty plenty Disney. But then, good clean fun. You can never have too much 'Incredibles'...
Guest
My lot have never been into Disney films, much to my disgust - I used to love them when I was wee (still do really). The boys were always into that 'Wlaking with Dinosaurs' that the BBC did, and Caity loves the Tweenies....
The Dogmother
Rosie still has all her Disney videos, but hardly watches them. She loves discovery type stuff and documentaries now
Richard T
It is possible (nay probable!!) that Richard is thinking of the (more famous) Captain Sensible version that (I believe) got to number one sometime in the early eighties..... Phil While I do have more records by the Damned (3) than I have cast recordings of musicals (0), I was actually thinking of the song from the musical South Pacific with which Captain Sensible had a hit in the early eighties. The song was written by Rodgers (music) and Hammerstein (lyrics). Did you know that Hammerstein's grandfather invented a cigar rolling machine which made his fortune and enabled him to pursue his dream of building theatres and putting on operas? Guest
No - I didn't know that - you learn something new every day!! (I had you down as a Captain Sensible fan - yay!) did you know... Rat Scabies was brought up near here - in Brentford - and last year he published a book: Rat Scabies and the Holy Grail Dan Brown eat your heart out!! The Dogmother
Yup, Rosie loves the old musicals too When my folks took us to Cyprus earlier int he year, they had reruns of High Chaparral and Bonanza on the TV there; she was in heaven and I was embarrassed at how much of it I remembered

Hellcat
Seven brides for seven brothers - fantastic film! also My Fair Lady, Oklahoma and all the rest (although I'm not mad keen on Priscilla). I inflict the old films on any poor sould who happens to be in the lounge on a sat afternoon if I'm ironing. When ironing, I have control of the remote otherwise it would never get done! Diana1
I'm gonna have to get Seven Brides for Seven Brothers now as a reason to actually do the ironing.
Cinnamon
I reckon Seven Brides is the ultimate feel good movie. And Howard Keel was divine
