alih
My daughters are 12 and 14 and both want to go on what we consider to be very expensive school trips (could have entirely separate rant here but shall resist). We have said that IF they go they must raise some of the money themselves. This may seem mean but we have 4 children and I strongly believe in working for goals, even in a small way. My older one can now babysit as she is 14 and they both work at stables at weekends but my 12-year-old is more limited as to how she can fundraise because of her age. I wonder whether any of you wise people have experience of your children fundraising for things like this and could pass on any bright ideas? Thank you in advance. KimmyCustard
Alih I used to do ALL the ironing for £5 when I was 12, but we are talking 27 years ago, inflation may make it up to £10 now! Is she too young for a paper round? Can she make some leaflets for offering to clean cars and pop them into the letterboxes of neighbours that you know and trust? You may have realised that I dont have any small people so these ideas may be complete rubbish. Hope one of them can give her inspiration. alih
no they are ALL great ideas - the domestic ones I hadn't really thought about as she spends half her weekend at her dad's but the car cleaning would be a good one to do with her older sister! Keep them coming please - thank you guys
Geoid
Can she make some leaflets for offering to clean cars I wouldn't do thata 10 year old boy got an ASBO for putting up posters about his lost cat....
alih
oh goodness! Our neighbours are lovely so am sure if she restricted herself she would be ok....
Egluntyne
I shouldn't think that putting a few leaflets through neighbourhood letterboxes would get them into trouble. I suppose it depends upon what the lad was nailing his poster to, and what he was using to knock the nails in.....and what the poster was advertising too. The Spencers
Cleaning out the chickens has to be an obvious job they could do

craftyhunnypie
table top / end of drive sale. Bit of weeding for the neighbours or putting in Winter bedding plants & spring bulbs. Or they could buy some cheap bulbs ( pound shop) & plant them up in containers to sell. Get them to make some Xmas cards to sell to neighbours. People like handmade & homemade things. Xmas present wrapping service. They could make salt dough chickens!!!! Just a few ideas. Emma.x

freddie
Go for the cardmaking , potting on of hyacinth etc, as believe it or not, all my dinner ladies are now gearing up for Xmas, and are beginning to plan..... I haven't given it a thought yet, except that I get to sit and eat for a few days, with no post, no bills, lots of telly, and a lovely warm fire/ cat/ child... being dead antisocial, going nowhere, seeing no-one, if I get my way!! Cate in NZ
If it's for a school trip how about speaking to the school? If there are a few youngsters who would like to go on this trip but need to raise funds somehow maybe the school could consider helping...let them arrange a quiz night for parents possibly, or taking treats (ice-lollies, cookies?) into school for fellow puplis to buy . They do a lot of that kind of fund raising over here, in fact they get more ambitious, youngsters barbecuing burgers at lunch time to serve in a bun for a $1 lunch, but I can just imagine the British H&S guys really loving that one . Cooks
funny this because I do similar with my kids. They like to clean the kitchen cupboard doors (theres loads of them) and they are cream! and thyey clean the little panes of glass in some of our interior doors.. ooh and my 10 year old son is the best car vacuumer I know! We work out a rate and off they go I think it's a great idea to let them work and achieve part of it themselves
Yorkshire Pudding
I was going to suggest car vacuuming too - small people can get into all the places that I can't reach!
