My cube door wont open!!

Recommended Posts

Went to let my hennys out this morning and my cube door just wouldnt open, after trying for what seemed like ages and getting very frustrated i have ended up taking the roof off the cube and lifting my hennys out. I am now concerned as to how they will lay their eggs!!

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem or have you encountered it before??

I know its early but any helpful suggestions (apart from hit it with a hammer - my hubbys suggestion) would be gratefully received!

Thank you x :(

Probably a stupid question, did you turn the handle and then pull?

I don't bother to close mine anymore, it is in a half way position and they put themselves in and get up earlier than I do now.

I used to let them put at 7.00am, but have noticed on the odd occasion that I get up at 6.00am, they are already out.

I had this problem once when the handle got turned before it was pulled & the mechanism went wonky. It's easily fixed with a bit of wrangling.

I took the top off the cube, then undid the screws which hold the cube door in place- this was quite difficult as they had been screwed in really tightly when the cube had been manufactured. This let me angle the cube door to see where the little metal "hook" on the end of the door lever had come out of the black holder it should have been resting in. Aeter a bit of gentle tweaking & shoving I got everything working again, & it's been fine since.

Hope my technical (not!) description helps you to fix the door soon.
