Guest
7 sips and a gulp.Works every time for me .. Pretty self explanitory - Take 7 small sips of water and then one massive gulp. . You can of course substitute wine for water.
Plum
Hmm. not an additional tax on wine then?
Redwing
My fab husband reckons the steps below work every time: 1) fill a glass to the brim with water 2) place it on the worktop 3) put your thumbs in your ears (yep) 4) bend forward and use your little fingers to pick up the glass (steadying it with the next fingers if necessary) 5) drink from the glass fast without breathing Elaborate I know but he says it works great and it will at least entertain the family! Maybe if you get desperate.......

Then what on earth are you doing up at this hour - you should be in bed!

Yorkshire Pudding
Swallow a teaspoonful of sugar, at once, the hiccups stop instantly. Never heard of that one Fred, but I do use that trick for bleeding in the mouth - kids biting their tongue or whatever. It stops the blood and cheers up the child in one go. Just call me Mary Poppins....
