Steve.
So far we have given away 40 eggs to friends and neighbours (all stored on a spreadsheet). I've also been making folks on my Facebook aware eggs are available (and sold my first dozen on there). I'll be selling at £1.50 for 6, which compared to the taste of shop eggs is a bargain. Now I work from home, my wife looks after the kids, and I live in a cul-de-sac. I don't want to advertise to all-and-sundry we have Chickens, on the other hand I'd like to be able to let neighbours know when we have eggs available. I think putting a red-lamp in the window is not a good idea. Suggestions I've seen so far: 1) Take say £6 from folks and then deliver (walking) when eggs are available and let them know when they sub's have run out. 2) Get some sort of sign outside that we can flip up and down but can't say eggs or chickens as I don't want the local ASBO owners taking an interest 3) And my very own ... update my Blog / Facebook with something to say eggs are available ... Are there any other ideas?
dancing cloud
I asked my staff to bring in a box with their name on, which I put in the queue and they then get filled in order. You could always ask your neighbours to do this? Some of my staff now have 2 boxes, so I always have a box in the queue for them (and one of them even shares the cakes he makes ). Initially I didn't know how I would build up a customer base and thought I'd be swimming in eggs. Now I can't keep up with the demand, and my staff keep dropping hints about all those poor ex-batts still looking for loving homes - like they care about the hens, they just love the eggs! Egluntyne
How about emailing your list of recipients when eggs are available?
Steve.
How about emailing your list of recipients when eggs are available? I'm concerned I'll have a dozen eggs and a dozen folks wanting 'em one egg each is a bit of a swizz!
Sandychick
I'm now in the fantastic world of 'spare eggs' as well. 21 eggs a week is a bit much for one person to get through I box up any spare ones and take them to the pub - a pint of Stella for 6 eggs strikes me as a good deal
