Mumsvoice
My pepperpot would not get out of bed yesterday. She sleeps in the nest box and usually lays around 9am so I left her a while. By 11 she was still in the nest so I took er out. She went straight back in so I took her out and shut the eglu door. Same thing happened again this morning so took her out again and out a plant pot in the nest. She then perched beside the nest so I took the top off the eglu and she went outside then. She is eating and drinking normally but this is day 2 without an egg and she gives us an egg pretty much every day. I dunked her twice this afternoon just before taking the top off the eglu. Should I do anymore?
moochoo
She sounds broody to me. The quickest and easiest way is to set up a broody cage. Use a cat carrier or similar and keep her in it with food and water for 3 days and nights. That'll snap her out of it.
JulesL
The same has happened to me. Betty has been like it for nearly 2 weeks. I have to keep shutting the door to the Eglu after the other girls have laid to stop her going in. I haven't tried dunking her in cold water but may well get our old cat carrier out of the loft tomorrow and put her in it although I think it will be a little small. Janty
Sounds broody to me too. I also put mine into a broody cage. If you catch them quick enough they will only need a few days in the broody cage before they are back to their normal selves.

Mumsvoice
thanks for the advice. the plot thickens though cause when i went out this morning there was an egg on the roosting bars. as willow has not laid yet i assume that it was cordelia (broody one) but i thought that broodies did not lay Eglu door closed all day today and both chickens are ranging round the garden as normal. hope i caught her early enough - will see tomorrow i guess !! thanks again for the advice.
