Grovefarm
Hi all, MY nan has a bush in her garden that produces yellow round frits (think small apples) that small like a lemony-orange, I've always known them as Japonicas cause that is what she has always called them. She used to make lovely marmalade out of them. Looking round the internet for something to do with them all hasnt produced many results. Are they called something else these days? Karen & co.
Are they quince? We have a bush at the front of the house which has red flowers. Karen x
Redwing
Hi, The plant you are looking for is called a Chaenomeles, its common name is Japanese Quince or Flowering Quince (The word Japonica is commonly used also but this only means it comes from Japan so thats probably why you couldn't find it on a search!) The fruits of this bush are produced in Autumn and are edible but only after cooking (hence the marmalade) There is a normal edible version called Cydonia Good luck with your search!
