McChook
Hi all Well, the silly season is almost upon us and the fireworks will soon be whirling and banging again. Do any of you more experienced chicken keepers have any advice for those of us about to undergo our first bonfire night with chooks please? Here's a or two to start with... Will the girls be very upset by the noise? Will this stop them laying? Should I bring them inside? (I'm worried my dogs will eat them, though) Any ideas what I can do to make the night less stressful for them? (and me!!) Thanks
Karen & co.
The first year I worried myself stupid and now I just make sure they are tucked up safely and they are fine Karen x
MaggieMcHen
As above - mine were shut in every night and were fine. We had some pretty noisy bangs and wizzes too.
Lesley
Ours have always been OK - they don't seem to notice and still lay the next day.
Mutrix Farmers
OH suggested we bring the eglu into the house. We had some fireworks just after we got the girls and OH went rushing out to check the girls were OK, and they were fast asleep!!
RubyReckless
Mine never mind it at all. They just sleep right through it.
Snowy
We get a lot of fireworks here, but they have always just slept right it all
Hen Watch
I worried about my chooks first fireworks night last year. It was fine. I shut the eglu door early. Next day they still laid, but I did get one odd torpedo egg which may have been fall out from a loud bang. Don't worry, they will be fine.
