quinlan
How do I know when my girls are moulting? Theres a few feathers in the run (and the poo tray) but they still look nice and fluffy... I've read about giving them extra protein, is this something I need to be doing? They are about 25 weeks, still not laying but are getting much more friendly! Thanks for any advice... Egluntyne
They often lose the odd feather here and there. Yours probably won't have a big moult till this time next year.....and when they do.......you'll be in no doubt. Feathers everywhere, bald bums, a general patchy look. Jules.
Buzz & Poppy are moulting now for the first time. Feathers everywhere!
daj198
Matilda has been moulting recently, there were feathers covering the floor of the run like a carpet! She's grown back lovely dark feathers now I think moults usually start from the neck, so if she is not loosing feathers from there- it probably isn't a moult. funkychuck
One of our chickens is moulting terribly she's meant to be so fluffy she looks terrrible! I feel so sorry for her
urbanchick
One of our ex batts has just stopped moulting. A few weeks ago she shook herself and the whole run was instantly covered in feathers! Now my Miss Pepperpot has started, black feathers everywhere. Why they pick this time of year I can't imagine!
