CatsCube
Hi all Long time no speak! Life here is good. I have just recently had abdominal surgery but Im recovering well and have also got a full time job now working in a tattoo studio. Hope your all well and so are your girls. My girls are all doing well, havent lost any of my origional bunch. My only problem is this. I have had no eggs in about 6 weeks!!! They pretty much all appear to be moulting. This is my first moulting experiance and its not as I expected, its been going on for ages and has been very gradual, most have lost pretty much all there tails and othe than that they are just scruffy looking with feathers all over the run base etc. I thoughjt it wasing going to be a quicker loss of a lot more feathers then growing them back over the course of a few weeks. How much longer is this likely to go on for, and more importantly how long before I start to see some more eggs???
Egluntyne
Good to see you back. We have wondered where you were. Sorry to hear that you have had surgery. The moulting will largely be why they are not laying. If I were you I'd worm them, to be on the safe side and give them some extra protein to help with feather growth, Tuna(rinsed), organic cat food, scrambled egg....all good sources of protein. Janty
Hello and welcome back. We missed your posts. Regarding your girls moulting, my splash cochin has also been moulting for weeks. She is in a sorry state and has not laid for ages. I get the feeling that it is going to get worse before it gets better. I think that lots of people are having similar problems. I have been giving mine lots of extra protein in the form of live meal worms, tuna and anything else I have to hand. Glad you're back with us, Jan
CatsCube
Thanks ladies, I wonder if they have got confused by the non existant summer which has made them start moulting early as they have started a month or so early. Just fraustrating having to buy eggs.
