Mutrix Farmers
Well we talked about it and registration day arrived! Myself and 4 friends have places to walk the Moonwalk next year. For those who don't know it's a 26.2 mile power walk in aid of Breast Cancer (sponsored by Playtex!) around central London at night. So I've bought some proper trainers and I walked to work this morning. Only a mile and a half but I have to start somewhere!! We have 6 months to train. Excited and apprehensive all at the same time. alih
good on you! I did it 3 years ago with a group of friends including one who had had breast cancer. I do loads of hill walking but can safely say that was one of the hardest things I have ever done- your body clock will be shot so you need to take proper food and drink masses: the loo stops are horrendous as the queues are so long and the energy bars they give you don't give you enough for the stint. BUT, it was very satisfying and an amazing atmosphere so absolutey worthwhile - make sure your shoes are comfy and right for pavement pounding and pace yourself and you will be fine! jlo
Thanks for posting this. I have always wanted to have a go at the moonwalk as I know lots of people who have gone on it and, sadly, lots of people who have had cancer. Hopefully it won't be full yet! Now I will just have to see if I can get any of my friends interested!

Now I will just have to see if I can get any of my friends interested! Definately only do it if you can get a group of you together. I did it a few years ago on my own as no-one would do it with me. It was probably the most horrible and lonely thing I have ever done. Unfortunately it has put me off doing anything like that again. However I am glad I have done it and it is for a superb cause. Good Luck to all who do it.
Karen & co.
Good luck with the training I'd love to do it but can't find anyone willing to come with me I've done a couple of midnight walks for our local hospice which is half the distance and loved it Karen x
deejmum
I did this three years ago with one friend. It was fantastic. I think it was the only year they did it in June and it was so hot and humid, but crossing that finish line was amazing. Just one hint, when you see Hyde park at the end, dont think 'I made it' untill you actually see the line, or that will be the longest mile of your life! Good luck with the training, you will be amazed how the miles clock up, get an Ipod if you have not got one already.
BeckyBoo
Would anyone consider doing an "Omlet" group Moonwalk? I'd like to do this too but the only people I can think of to do it with me have already done it. I know training would have to be done on your own but potentially we could all meet up there on the night itself? Just a thought Mrs B

Lynn
Hi, I've only picked this thread up as I was wondering if anyone had registered to walk. I walked last year (by myself) and have got a place for this year; is anyone else walking? If you are walking, would you like to set up a training thread to keep morale up? I really need motivation as I haven't started training at all despite having a fully equipped gym and swimming pool at work and living along the Kent coast, I've done nada All help REALLY appreciated!!!!
