But when they do lay I am worried that i will not know which hen lays what egg. Please can someone let me know what colour eggs each of them would lay so I will know who has laid what? I have a and a from omlet. Also pictures could help? Many thanks Jo
Redwing
If I remember correctly the Gingernut Ranger gives a slightly lighter brown speckled egg and the Miss Pepperpot gives a darker brown one
Chickvic
Sorry to be controversial but my lays lighter torpedo shaped egg, Opal lays beige egg shaped eggs and Ruby's eggs always look like they have been paint splashed. That's how I know who lays what
Redwing
Sorry to be controversial but my lays lighter torpedo shaped egg, Not controversial at all I guess even chickens the same type will be different! This is why if you have chickens you should still be able to receive your salary while staying at home hen watching
Chickvic
I agree with that Redwing! Would love a nice dark brown egg layer, green egg layer, blue egg layer...
mostin
I quite agree, all new chicken parents should be allowed time off work to watch their girls. And not untill you are sure who lays what colour egg at what time should you be forced to go back to work
helenmb
I have found the only really reliable way to check who layed what is to go on egg watch to stake out the nest. I find that the egg colour varies from day to day too and the size also so its not an exact science, unless of course you have ones that lay white and blue or green eggs and then its easy! wombatally
Don't worry, you'll just know!
cluckingmad
I want time off to hen-watch!!! Quite agree, all new chicken mummies and daddies should be allowed time off, especially at this time of year when I hardly ever get to see my girls when they're not asleep But all is well, three new girls will be collected this w/e so I'll have to make sure equally fussing time is given to each of my girls to soothe any ruffled feathers!
