Joanne
Title says it all really, How long to chickens live? How long do they lay? oh, and also...... Could you live without yours??
Baggins
In our house, about 6 months I have heard that the hybrids Omlet sell will lay for around 3 years (my Pepper is proof of the pudding) and live for 4-5 years. Some pure breeds can live up to 10 years allegedly - not much of a clue about their egg laying capability though. Re living without them, I have no choice but to live without some of them - our latest had to be put to sleep last week - but, once a chicken keeper, always a chicken keeper I think
Egluntyne
I have some Omlet girls who are 4 years old, but only lay very sporadically now.
