Daisy has laid!

Recommended Posts

We have had our chickens two weeks (tomorrow) and Daisy, the eldest, has laid her first egg this afternoon :D . We thought she was going to as she kept going into her roosting box - which she never does usually and she was making such a lot of noise! It is small, 40g, and perfectly formed.

Amazing how happy such a simple thing can make you!

Just got to get the other two to do the same :)

All I can say is thank goodness I have found this site. Since we decided to get the girls, I have been on here most evenings, reading up about all sorts of things, reading everyone's stories. So it is really good to put on a post about the first egg. And rather strange as it's something I used to take for granted when shopping and just picking up a box of eggs - and getting annoyed when all the boxes had at least one broken egg in. And now it's this miraculous thing!

I know what you mean, they seem so precious now, I can't imagine how upset I would be if I dropped one of my girls eggs after all their hard work :lol: .

My daughter carried it from the house to ours and it was down a very slippery wet muddy garden and I was thinking 'please don't drop it, please don't drop it'! I fried it and put it on toast and the kids shared it for brekkie this morning. They let me have a bit of the yolk (aren't I lucky  ) and it tasted like the eggs I had as a child.
