earthmam1
Just come back from Southampton docks after waving goodbye to the QE2. It was a really beautiful sight to see her slip her dock and sail up to the Mayflower Park. There were a huge amount of small boats sailing with her. As she sailed by the Park she blew her horn and all the other ships and the docks responded back. I know she is only a boat but she is like a stately old lady and to see her gently sail away was very moving. An end of an era I think. Chook n Boo Mum
Hi Sue, Just watched it on the news, was far too busy today in Worthing playing taxi driver to my Mum & Nan who had a cataract op this aft - it didn't occur to me to go over there this evening as I had 9 Christmas cakes all needing attention (of the marzipan & icing variety! They got the former & the latter will happen tomorrow I hope). On the highlights on the news it certainly looked emotional - and loud and packed!! Didn't spot you though..... The poppy-drop this morning choked me a bit. T'was great to meet you yesterday (got your pm thanks!), must do that again! Take care, Sha x
bluekarin
I watched it on South Today yesterday lunchtime. Brought a bit of a tear to my eye when the Harrier jet flew over, turned round mid air ! and then bowed. Lots of people were saying on the news that it was like she didn't want to leave because she grounded herself on the sandbank.
