chooklady
I have just ordered some Flubenvet and wanted to check on the dose. I was going to put it on grapes and from what I remember reading it was half a grape dipped in flubenvet per chicken for 7 days is that right and how often should it be repeated, is it monthly? Many thanks any advice greatly appreciated Nicola
Sandychick
The dose has recently got a bit more complicated with the introduction of the new version of Flubenvet, which is a different strength. It depends whether you have the 2.5% or the 1% strength. If it’s the original 2.5% version, then the dose is as you describe it. If it’s the new version you need more. I think most people worm their chickens about every 3 or 4 months.
Egluntyne
I do mine every three to 4 months. I do it by mixing it in the feed, as directed on the sid of the tub. I find the grape method impossible as some end up overdosed and others untreated.
..lay a little egg for me
I do mine every three to 4 months. I do it by mixing it in the feed, as directed on the sid of the tub. I find the grape method impossible as some end up overdosed and others untreated. Me too. I worked out that four chooks need 1 tsp of flubenvet and that they eat around 6 litres of feed in a week (I use an old measuring jug to scoop out the feed from the bag and take it over to the feeder, so that's how I knew). So I take a jug-full of feed and mix 1 tsp of flubenvet with it really well and then I put another 5 jug-fulls of feed in a bucket and mix in the treated jug-full, really well and then keep the bucket in the dustbin that I use to store the feed and make sure they get all of it over the period of the week. I noticed after worming that the egg-production goes up noticeably so I think it must be working!
chooklady
Thanks for your replies. The flubenvet came today so perhaps I will mix it with the feed this time although I know my daugther would love to be incharge of making sure all the chickens got half a grapes worth!! She might get bored after a few days though!! The egg production has dropped alot, I know the time of year doesn't help but I might have to buy some eggs soon so maybe the Flubenvet will help.
