MedusA
Yesterday morning, we took the two Silkies to visit our friend's 3 year old's Nursery class. They'd been doing some work on Food, and eggs had featured, so we were asked if we'd mind taking some chickens along for the little ones to meet and to understand where eggs came from. The Girls were very well behaved and didn't poo at all. The reactions of the children varied between outright fear and being very keen to stroke and handle them. We showed them pictures of all our girls and a variety of eggs. We left two eggs for them to have a taste, which the Nursery teacher was going to scramble. The Nursery eacher was especially pleased because one Asian lad, who hasn't uttered a word since he started there, became very chatty and said whole sentences about the chickens. All in all, it was a great success and we've agreed to arrange a visit to our allotments by the school Eco Club in spring. Our friend took some pics, so I hope to be able to add some when she sends them to me.

beach chick
our school has just had 'pets' day in reception - I was very surprised to see the lady leading the walking bus carrying a cat crate with a light sussex down the road!! they had chickens, gerbils, mice, rats, hamsters, rabbits, african land snails and a terrapin - no dogs or cats though!
