How Quickly Does Albendazole Work?

Is any one vaselining the chickens combs? my chickens are not easy to pick up and am thinking that i might need to do their combs tonight.

 

Also does anyone who has got their chickens from worldwide poultry have difficulty in picking theirs up? Our dont seem to crouch when we approach them. they are eating corn from our hands although a little nervously.

I have never vaselined combs. Two of mine might let me, but the other three definitely wouldn't. I think I'd only attempt it if they were having problems with their combs, which they haven't so far. As for the crouching and allowing themselves to be picked up, I think it's just the luck of the draw. Some do and some don't. I don't think it's anything to do with the breeders.

They don't really need it in the UK unless they live in damp badly ventilated conditions.

 

It is the damp plus the cold that causes frostbite, not just cold, unless it gets to minus 10 centigrade.

I have certainly never bothered and none of my girls has any frostbite. I can't imagine trying to catch all 12 of my girls to rub vaseline on their combs

I did mine yesterday when hard frosts were forecast but they weren`t at all happy about it.

They thought I`d gone bonkers I think.

Oh Good glad I dont have to do that - I am relieved. I wasnt looking forward to catching escapee chickens! or going out late at night to do it!

Have vaselined my chickens because the temp went down to 5 degrees and i was really worried. They are in an open area and I dont think the cube is warm enough ( all those gaps). .They immediately started to rub it off, anyway at least I tried.

I've done it a couple of times but i'm not religious with it or anything, plus i get strange looks from the neighbours with a chicken under my arm and a pot of vaseline in front of me.....i expect the RSPCA on my doorstep demanding to know whats going on!!!

hahaha my boyfriend always laughs at me when i do it!! When the girls were all picking on each other when we first got them i did it so they couldn't get hold of each other, but i felt very odd doing it
