Chook n Boo Mum
http://style.uk.msn.com/wellbeing/healthyeating/gallery.aspx?cp-documentid=11598687&imageindex=11 Is there any point in having scrambled eggs without the yolks ? Where's the flavour? And as for the supermarkets selling packs of whites only....... Sha x
Old Speckled Hen
Egg white omelets have been the thing for the cholesterol conscious in the States for some time. I agree with you Wild Mum. Can't see the point without the yolk. I even put an egg yolk in my mash potato ... YUM Mind you, a carton of egg whites would be useful for meringues, pavlovas etc etc ONLY free range though
Chook n Boo Mum
I can see the merits of packs of whites only - if you can't use the yolks for something else, but I think I'd rather skip the omelette rather than lose the flavour. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to omelettes, would rather not have any additions, although I am now moving to "experimenting" with mushrooms, cheese & other veggies - next stop a Spanish omelette! It amazes me that even the simplest food in the world can have an "easy" option - ie separated white & yolks Sha x
Mutrix Farmers
Food freaks really annoy me. Stop messing with our food and just enjoy it the way God intended. Separate eggs if you're making meringues (and put the yolks in mashed potato - nice idea DA) by all means but an omelette with no yolk is just a whitelet (and a pointless waste of time)!! I'm off the soapbox now!!
Egluntyne
It does sound a bit joyless doesn't it?
Geoid
A bit of scrambled egg is not going to totally ruin your diet is it?

BUT we both preferred boiled rather than omlet...
Valkyrie
Yuk - I prefer to have the whites in the meringues. Not fond of scramble, but love fried - eat the white first and if "Ooops, word censored!"ody is watching eat the yolk whole and let the warm runny bit slide down the throat - heaven. Rather piggy, not the done thing in public hence treat for alone time, but it's a shame to waste any yolk that sticks on the plate.
Minnie the Moocher
Now THAT'S something that really fascinates me: the way people eat their food. I always sample the potatoes first, then eat everything on the plate evenly BUT save my favourite morsel as my parting mouthful. I know... sad! My nephew, on the other hand, insists on eating each group of food on its own before moving to the next group ie all the peas, then all the potatoes etc. How decadent to eat a whole egg yolk in one go (and how delicious!) A chickychickychick-ENN!!
It's for Atkins diet fans isn't it? How hard is it to separate an egg?! It's like pre-peeled pineapple slices and pomegranate seeds. Nature provides a hardy and attractive packet. Please don't strip it of its lovely packet and then pop it in plastic Mr Sainsbury's! I always leave the yolk till last but I usually eat it cut up with toast then use the last piece of bread to mop up the last yolky remanants (have been known to wipe my finger round the plate too - )
Cinnamon
Ah now, pomegranate seeds in a pack are great. They are a nightmare to get out of the skin without getting covered in juice,so I use the seed a lot in salads & couscous
Goosey Lucy
I've recently been told that I have very high cholesterol levels. I have to try and reduce them by changing my diet. I am limited to a maximum of 3 eggs per week now This includes not only whole eggs but part eggs included in recipes. It's a nightmare There is a very strong genetic link of heart disease in my family which I've only recently been told the full extent of. Personally I'd rather save my egg allowance and eat a whole egg rather than an yolkless omlette but I can understand some people turning to while only dishes.
