Ebay product query - you lot know everything!

Anybody ever bought one of these?

I am thinking of buying one to keep my quail in...obviously with rabbit wire across the bottom and extra security around the edges...but I wondered if anybody knew what the build quality, etc. was like.

Thanks,

Jan

I haven't bought one from these guys, but I do have one of these houses for my three girls, but I would assume that they would be made by the same factory though. I am very pleased with the quality. I did paint inside to help prevent red mite infestation and I re-varnished the outer wood just to protect it a bit more. I have also added a hook and loop fastener (don't know the actual name of these things) to hold the nesting box lid up higher as the internal stick they have didn't hold the lid up high enough for me. The only thing I have a problem with is the removable floor as I keep putting them in the wrong way round and then they get a bit stuck. But having said that, I found it very easy to put together (all by myself  )

Hope this is of some help!

Pretty sure Dilly had one of these for her first lot of quail at least. Try searching for her on here and having a look at her blog

hth

Dilly was who I thought about straightaway - she had two for her quail at one point. :D

But I think different companies make similar styles of housing, so it may not be the same make that Dilly used :?

Hi Janty,

Thats the same seller that I got my chicken coop/run from. Their communication wasn't very good.

We had a few problems with the actual wood, a lot of it was bowed and required a bit of Mr Webmuppets reluctant diy skills to get it put together. We got it in February and its showing signs of wear and tear already as well as doors that won't shut. Their P&P was quite high I recall, I drove down to Ongar to pick it up. I may have to splash out on an Eglu or Cube next year.

We have the slightly smaller version of this without the added nestbox on the end for our two girls...would recommend you treat in again with something more waterproof before you put anything in it! The pesky doors swell as soon as it gets a bit damp(not that it ever rains in sunny eastbourne of course  ) It is fairly easy to keep clean..easier access than an eglu Id say because of the large side doors but obviously isnt going to last for years. It is serving a purpose but would much rather have a cube  but funds wont allow without a lottery win! We actually bought ours from our local chicken person 'cos we didnt like the feedback for this seller..SEL make better quality ones and they are sometimes from different sellers on ebay.It seems that this is a new model for next year..could you wait a bit until more people start selling them? Good luck!
