Groovychook
I had my mother in law to stay this weekend, for the first time since we've had the chooks. I set about making her an omelette for her lunch but cracked the second egg into the bowl to see the whole of it's contents turn red with blood! As far as I could tell, the shell was full of watery blood- eugh I was completely mortified, thankfully the MIL didn't see the incident and I disposed it in a flash and carried on with fresh eggs. I've nervously sent her off home with half a dozen eggs and am hoping that the bloody egg will be just a one off. Is it something I should be concerned about? All the girls seem fine... Janty
I have had one of those a few months ago...nothing since so M-I-L's eggs should be fine.
Redwing
Quick thinking! well done I have heard about blood spots in eggs (which are harmless) but not this sorry!

Lesley
We've only ever had two - over 4 years and 25+ layers. Very startling though when you crack them open
Groovychook
Thanks everybody for your encouraging words! It was extremely alarming to see! I had to summon up lots of self control to eat my own omelette because I was feeling decidedly queasy! I could have been scarred for life!
