could anyone please tell me what the purple spray stuff is called please (the one that's used to deter pecking). Also the cheapest online supplier too,

I get ours from our local farm suppliers.

 

Its in an orange and white tin and is called "Septi-cleanse".

The purple spray is called gentian violet spray. It covers up the red skin and makes it a less likely target for pecking but it doesn't act as an anti pecking spray. I got ours from sprcentre.co.uk. I think you can also get it from horse suppliers.

I get my Gentian Violet Spray from a local Equestrian shop. Costs around £3.50.

It is an Oxytetracycline/Terramycin aerosol they are called numerous names but it is the same ingredients. I dont think its gentian violet anymore as its banned I think but its purple/greeny blueish still. Any large animal vet surgery will have it as will any animal/equine feed store will have it. It is an antibiotic spray.

Mine is most definitely gentian Violet Spray. Says so on the label and I bought it only a short while ago.

I went to my local stables and picked up some Aloe Vera purple spray. It seemed to be a bit pricey at £7.25 (240ml), but the kind shop lady gave me a 10% discount By the time I would have paid for postage to get some delivered online I guess it would of worked out about the same anyway.

 

I've now also been converted into the Eglu world and hopefully getting mine delivered tomorrow. It had to be done due the the dreaded red mite this year in the wooden cope
