4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Just would like to know if people shut their Cube doors during this cold period.

 

Have had my girls over a year now and have never bothered apart from when fireworks are being let off. Girls don't seem to bothered about the cold.

My cube door is still open but I have a heavy duty tarp over the run and that seems to stop a lot of the drafts. My girls like to get up when it's still dark so to stop any argy bargy I leave the door open.

I haven't been doing. 13 hens generate quite a bit of heat and my Cube is protected by the walk in run.

I only shut mine in the winter when its very cold the rest of the year its open for business .

 

I've should just add that I don't mind getting out early to open up as I am a morning person

Me too, I would worry all night if I left it open.

Shut mine the last few nights both because of the extreme cold, and because I've got a new chicken and I wanted to be sure she was tucked up safely ... normally I leave it open all the time.

I left it open in the summer so they could get up early, but have been closing it in the winter when it's cold and they are roosting for longer than they are awake.

 

I have been a bit concerned as a couple of times this week we have been down to -7 (which is very rare here where it's normally damp but relatively mild). And even with the door closed it has been below zero inside. But they don't seem to have been nearly as concerned as I have. I suppose you learn by experience.
