On the boxes it does not say Free range. Only dried egg. I would have thought if it was FR eggs it would be mentioned. Sounds very strange.

 

I think it's all very fishy but jane Howorth is on the case, if she can't get to the bottm of this then i don't know who can

I wonder if it depends on where the creme eggs are made.

 

Up until 2009, Cadburys Creme Eggs were made both in the UK and in New Zealand (I'm not sure if they were made in the UK for the US/Canada market) . The NZ ones were then made in Australia. and now they aren't made in Australia either, they only come from the UK*

 

Maybe the problem was that they couldn't guarantee that they were made with) free range eggs in all manufacturing markets, and that is why it's not on the packaging?

 

It may be that the UK was free range from2009 or 2010, but NZ/Australia/(and US, as I don't know where they are made) were not.

 

*SIDE NOTE: And, according to that extrmeley reliable source Wikepedia, the NZ'ers and Aussies are not happy. They believe the recipe has changed and the eggs aren't as runny as they were when they were made there. Funnily enough, I remember hem being runnier as a child. When I had one as an adult - many years ago now, as they are too sweet for me - I was surprised at how solid they were inside.

When you consider that all that's needed is a press release to confirm that they are free range, it makes you wonder whether they are.

The ones we buy in this country are made in Birmingham, down the road from me at the Bournville site. I understood that they made them somewhere in North America too (not sure but think Canada) and they are a different size from ours. But if you buy a UK sized one it's made here. However, it is possible that the fondant mix is shipped in from elsewhere already made as they do this. The chocolate is made here though, you can smell it and there's plenty of milk tankers in and out all day long!
