Any needle felters out there?

Recommended Posts

Thankyou I think I will order some from here - it looks good

Sorry to hear you've been ill

Needle felted teddy bears sounds good, were they hard to make?

Hi,

They were time consuming, but quite easy to make. I used to make sewn mohair bears so had a bit of a head start. I'll try to take some photos of some of my felted stuff and pop them on here.

Oooo yes please Omeltina, I'd love to see them too please! I need to make a needle felted chook, so all inspiration gratefully received  !

Are you feeling better now?

OK, as promised I just took some photos for you.

Here are two little bears which I made, note the sculpted feet and paws

and here's another photo of them

Here is a nuno felted scarf I made - this is merino wool felted onto silk which I dyed an orangey colour first, as the wool felts it shrinks and felts itself into the silk, so the silk is all puckered up on the back - it's very warm and soft to wear. I am thinking of making a hat. The good thing about it, is that once felted, you can cut the felt without any fear of it fraying or anything. Please excuse the blurred image of Ludwig, one of my boys who saw me doing something "interesting" and decided to help.

By the way, the floor I've taken the photo on is the floor in my bedroom which I've been sanding down and then oiling - it's oak and I'm really pleased with the result!

Finally, here are two corsages I made

By the way, there's a great teddy bear needle felting kit available from Christie Bears here

My friend in Sweden wanted to try needlefelting and started with one of their kits...

I just went and hucked out all of my merino wool and remembered that I actually bought the bulk of it from a mill in Bradford, which is great for knitters, felters etc. It's called Texere yarns and is an Alladin's cave!! They also have a website

Wow, I love the scarf, and the bears, and the corsages! The floor looks great too! 8)

Ludwig is tapping his paw, waiting for a compliment as to how nice the blurry cat looks :wink:

Tell him fishing for compliments is beneath him! He knows darn well I think he is adorable!
