I recently had a go at needle felting and I really liked it . I would like to do it again but I don't know where to get the needles or the merino wool from. Does anyone know where I can get these from?

When you say needle felting, do you mean knitting something to felt or using felted wool to knit things? If so I can help with both!

Ubereglu : I mean using Merino wool tops and a special needle ( not sure what it's called! ) and soap + water to make them into different shapes / items

Well if you're knitting then yes, but this will depend on the thickness of wool.

Needle felting isn't knitted - from what Omletina told me, you use unspun wool and stab it and bash it with thin needles, using soap and water, directly into the shapes you want. Sounds like great fun!

Oh, I should never have looked at this, it looks too inviting and I am not meant to be spending any money just now as I am currently on adoption leave and so pretty skint! The annoying thing is that once I am back at work and on full wages again I won't have the time or will to learn new crafts - typical!

Did you use a pad Emma? - my kit came with a felting pad which the needle goes into.

I have some of the fibres which I got from HobbyCraft (and the pup decided to shred all over the floor ) At the time I couldn't justify getting the full kit for yet another craft (DH goes every time I bring something new home!!), so was going to have a go with the traditional method using a bamboo place mat I already had! Just need the time now!!

I went for a tootle on this website & found that she does hen courses....so I clicked on the link only to find not one feather on it! It was of course a bride & friends, just goes to show how my mind is wired these days - but so is my DD, she wanted to know where the chooks are too!!

Sorry, I've not been in for a while, as I've been poorly sick.

 

As Snowy says, I've done needle felting and also nuno felting. I got my stuff from a place called Wingham Wool, which is near Rotherham/Sheffield. Their website is:

Hi,

They were time consuming, but quite easy to make. I used to make sewn mohair bears so had a bit of a head start. I'll try to take some photos of some of my felted stuff and pop them on here.
