Margalot
Well at long last we collected our 4 lovely hens today! A Black Rock a Sussex Star and 2 Gingernut Rangers. So happy to have them at last, they are not at all flighty and have settled in straight away. We put them into their run and they seemed happy enough investigating the grass, Pecking order being established Bon -Bon in charge, Midnight second, and 2 rangers at the bottom. Bedtime was fun! Bon Bon seemed to be getting a bit unsettled and stared pacing the run none of them was going up the ladder voluntarily, so managed to get Bon Bon and pop her into the nest box bit, our unnamed gingernut went of her own accord. That left ginger who made it up the steps but stopped at the top blocking Midnights access who was perched behind her. Good job it was dark!, as I had to climb into cube run and pop them into the cube, and seeing all the poop that they made upon arrival it was a blessing!. They are so beautiful, cant believe I have held them already, the sounds they make are wondeful! - especially when picking them up it was as if they turned up the volume!! Already developing chicken coop OCD as have had to check they are ok twice since then and make sure the doors are secure etc! Tea wasnt up to much tonight as just spent the afternoon watching them! Have to introduce the dog properly next, she has been to sniff the run after they went to bed and cant quite work it out ("I can smell them but where are they?"). I will have to post pictures next! Cant wait to let them out tomorrow!!!
