A handful of awards for 'Slumdog Millionaire', which I am going to see this week & 2 awards for the splendid Kate Winslet. I honestly expected a better speech from her. If you are nominated for an award where there are only three or four other nominees, it seems to me that there is a reasonable chance that you might win - the surprise can't be that great. I think that Kate Winslet is a great actress and always seems to be very down to earth and a lovely person. Just a shame that she has gone down the Gwyneth Paltrow route! I thought she was honest,lovly & natural & she didn't blub like Gwyneth did I like Kate, & its nice to see that she still seems to be the person she was when I very briefly worked with her in my teens. Would recommend it to anyone over the age of about 12! We've just got back from the cinema where we saw Slumdog Millionaire - I had to recommend it all round! What a fantastic film! I'm with alih, I'm recommending it to my kids to see it - they'll love it and it will open their sheltered eyes a bit too!
