Mollystar
I'm looking to buy 3 more chickens & a local farm has POL vacinaited Warrens at £3.50 each. Are warrens ok? Thank you in advance.
Daphne
Warrens are your solid brown layers. Can't go far wrong I would have thought. £3.50 is very cheap. Check they are POL and not 12 or 18 month old layers which are often sold off cheap (ie 50p upwards). Nothing wrong with these older birds, but obviously they won't lay as long for you. moochoo
Yes they're fine. They are the same as Omlet's Gingernut Ranger, a Rhode Island Red hybrid. At £3.50 each it would be rude to refuse - bargain! They're good layers too as they're the same breed used in the battery hen industry
BERTIE MCSQUIRTY
i bought 2 pol warrens last week for £4 each - i got them from a breeder who is on the nfu list of recommended breeders (he supplies farms etc), so probably about right in price
Mollystar
Thanks Guys He's quite a trustworthy breader so lets hope they are the age he says
Egluntyne
Warrens are fab. Friendly, inquisitive, good layers. £3.50 seems a bargain for vaccinated POLs.
ubereglu
Sounds good to me. We were going to have a warren or two, but our chicken man didn't have any when we wanted some more unfortunately.
surferdog
My little red hen is my favourite (but don't tell the others ) She's the brightest, bravest and has none of the neurosis of the other two. She also lays day in day out with no fuss or bother.
craftyhunnypie
Hiya - £3.50 is about right - up to about £5. Where in Cheshire are you buying them from? I get all my hybrids from David at Creag Mhor Poultry. If it's there he is brilliant! Emma.x
brambles
Leaping in as another Cheshire girl! I'm considering adding one more to my existing two once they've settled in. Has anyone used the Frodsham breeders?
