TAJ
This weekend marks a year since I actually joined the Omlet site, though I have read it for longer than that. So what has happened in that year? First an Eglu, then 3 hens, (all birthday presents a few weeks early), then the start of eggs and by May I was doing henparties - 7 so far. Then in November we got 4 table birds at 2½ weeks old, with a brooder, heat lamp, etc, a Rablu followed these as they grew up and went outside. Then following OH going on the culling course we got 6 more table birds, but this time different breeds and as day old chicks. So currently we have hens in the eglu laying well after 2 moulting, 2 still growing in the Rablu and 6 in the dinning room, now coming up to 2½ weeks old. Plans for the future? I must confess thinking about whether a cube will fit in the Eglu space, so I could up the layers with the odd blue/green/white/dark brown, but what would I lose, the Rablu or the Eglu? ...and 836 posts on here Happy Omletting! BeckyBoo
There can't be many people who end up with the same number they started with! Sounds like a good year to me, wonder how many you'll have this time next year? I started with 5, now I've got 17 have eaten one, have plans for two more of the boys and have had two hatches. They're a bit obsessive aren't they, mind you, I was warned by everyone on here, but did I believe them....... BB

Olly
Gosh that's quite a year! Did you have previous chicken experience? I am just planning to measure the garden today to work out where the walk-in run can go (depends if I get a bonus in February ), but I think five chooks is probably my limit. It'll be my 2-year anniversary next month, and I can't believe that this time two years ago I'd never even held a chicken!

TAJ
Thanks all - I have been measuring up for a cube and went to see some chickens today to add the the layers - it is looking like a cream legbar, Silver gray Dorking and a Speckledy may be the ones I want next.
