Aubiose suppliers in Bedfordshire?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have found some Aubiose near me ( i live cambs/bedfordshire border). A guy that comes into work runs animal feed/village store/garden centre type thing.

High View, Top End

Little Staughton

BEDFORD

Bedfordshire

Sorry can`t seem to find postcode for them. I get my layers pellets and Aubiose from them. A bale of Aubiose is £7.50 i think. Hope this helps. Spose it depends where in Bedfordshire they are really.

Em

PS - Jan - I went to Spinney Farm near you yesterday! Found it no probs and the lady is LOVELY. She is ordering me a nice big shallow tubtrug to match the eglus. OH says the chickens won't care if they don`t match but i think they will!

I have to find another supplier! I am paying £8.70 for mine!

Well if you ever come over this way I will happily point you in the right direction :D

At the moment I am only put Aubiose in nest box (not sure why, "Ooops, word censored!"ody is laying yet!) and in the poo tray. I have two bales, it is going to last me forever at this rate!!!

There two more country/horsey supplies not too far from me but I haven`t been to either:

and these are all horsey places in Bedfordshire so perhaps pick the closest and give them a call and work your way out?

Someone in Bedfordshire sells miscanthus by the bale on Ebay - someone on the PP forum swears by it.

I have a local supplier of Aubiose and I work in Luton so if they get very stuck I could bring some down and they could collect it from me at work if they are desperate for it - depending on how far they are off my journey home I could be persuaded to drop it off...

I've bought it from the place on the A1 north of Sandy and from an equestrian place deep in the countryside between Baldock and Royston (Cecil something or other) plus a little farm shop off the A600 near Pirton/Hitchin. The country store place opposite Simply Oak on the road out of Biggleswade towards Potton stocks lots of bedding.

I've switched to Easibed as I find it better and cheaper than Hemcore/Aubiose so the suppliers I've mentioned may not have Aubiose but would be worth phoning

I've just picked up a bale of Miscanthus from a farm in Henlow http://www.oldmanorfarm.com/

It cost £5 and is a lot like chopped straw, but with thicker lengths like bamboo in it.

I out some in the run and the girls had an experimental peck but didn't appear to swallow any, then had a lively scratch about in it.

I'm interested to see if it composts better than Easibed - I'm otherwise happy with Easibed but it isn't breaking down in the compost bin.

I'll let you know how I get on

Jo
