Lesley
Terrible storms in SW France, in the area where we holidayed last August I know Jackiepoppies is a bit further inland but hope all is well.
Yorkshire Pudding
I saw this on the BBC website - we have spent many summers in the Lot/Quercy region - Jackie are you in one piece?
Lesley
We have spent a lot of time in the Lot, near Figeac/Cajarc. I think these storms hit the coastal areas and the Vendee has suffered - we were near Marans, near La Rochelle last summer and the owner of the gite we rented said there has been a lot of damage. Yorkshire Pudding
How bizarre, we also spent last year's holiday in the Vendee, in the Mervent forest. Another Omlet coincidence! Our favourite bits of the Lot are around Castlenau-Montratier (a distant relative used to live there ) and also the Cele valley - every time we go back I have to visit the Pechmerle caves to make sure the spotted horses are still there, and every time I am stunned by how beautiful they are! chelsea
Ooh, I hope my friend in France is ok, she lives in the Aquitaine (sp!) coastal region near Bordeaux in the middle of a forest! *off to e mail her*
tom123
We stay in a small gite in Figeac most years and always got to the Pechmerle caves they are so cool! Hope everyone is OK Tom
Guest
DH's uncle lives in Dinard. He phoned on Thursday and said the storm warnings were so bad that the fishing boats were not going out overnight. Perhaps we should have rung to check he was OK? jackiepoppies
Hello everyone Well yesterday was certainly stormy, even in our part! Terrific snowstorms that didn't settle with very high winds and rain. Several short powercuts, not fun when you've only got dial up! Garden looks a bit like a field of mud and the chooks seem a bit fed up. Today we have beautiful sunshine, clear blue skies and temperatures of approx 9deg. I love Figeac....I ended up in hospital there when a very nasty beastie bit me on my eye! Hope everyone else survived the storms OK. Tessa the Duchess
Glad to hear you are ok Jackie. I have good friends who live in Landes, I have e.mailed them, but not had a reply, so I'm worried now Tessa
jackiepoppies
Hi Tessa, DON'T WORRY! They have probably only lost their electric and telephone.......we only need a breeze here for that to happen The French (I have found) are pretty good at getting it back on again fairly quickly so I'm sure you'll hear soon. Let us know. Jackiex
