fruit canes £1 each Wilkinsons

Recommended Posts

went to Wilkos today, they have those garden incinerators by the way for £19.99! I must learn to check in Wilkos first before I order off the net!

Anyway, they've got fruit canes for £1 each; redcurrant, blackcurrant, blackberry and raspberry

5 accidentally fell in our trolley along with 2 cloche/polytunnels, numerous plant pots and various other bits and pieces

I've been to my local Wilkos and picked up 2 raspberry canes and a thornless blackberry (£3.00 for the blackberry). A really good bargain - and if I didn't already have lots of currants at my allotment, I would have let a few more 'fall into the trolly'

The only slightly disturbing thing about my visit was seeing all those lemon and olive trees in similar containers - I guess they'd be alright for a conservatory, but they seemed a little out of place this time of year?! :? I'm almost tempted to buy a couple if only to rescue them!

Hi everyone, after discovering this part of the forum yesterday, I went into wilko's and came home with a raspberry plant, this is going to sound really stupid but what shall I do with it now? pot it into a decent size pot and keep in doors for a bit? or plant straight out in garden? I don't have a greenhouse yet (working on hubby) I haven't really grown veg or fruit before or to be honest alot of plants from seeds or small plants most of my garden has been planted from plants my mum has split up from her garden. I really want to get into the garden this year and get my 3 year old involved too so if you can point me to an idiots guide or some kind words of wisdom it would be much appreciated.

Thanks Kay xx

If your soil isn't too waterlogged or frozen, then it can go straight into the garden. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or compost first and water in well. If the soil is not workable yet,you can put it into a pot for now and keep it in a shed or something for protection. It will need a fairly sunny spot in the garden. :D
