help due to rehome 7th cube not being delivered until 11th!

Recommended Posts

HI.

I shouldn't imagine they would be able to hold on to them until the 11th. They may just put you on the list for the next rescue :(

You could try phoning omlet and explaining the situation.

Or I'm sure there is somewhere on this site that has eglus for hire. I'm not sure where it is, but you could look for it, or somebody will be along who can add a link (I'm not that clever).

Another thing you could think about it buying yourself a wooden house from a garden center or pet center for the short term. Most people end up finding they need separate accomodation for doing introductions of new girls, or keeping ill girls segragated. It might not be an expense you had planned for right now, but most of us end up needing introduction houses sooner or later.

If you do have to put your girls off until the next delivery, try not to be too :( they will be worth the wait.

:D Keep us posted with what ever you choose to do.

Ah yes, thats a really good point. My ex-batts couldn't manage their ladder and it was MUCH shallower than the cube ladders. I had to do an emergency diy job to change my wooden house and run, so they were all on a level. The poor ladies weren't used to moving about much. It was quite upsetting watching them falling and stumbling on the ladder.

On the other hand, my ex-batts were "freed" in December but I didn't collect them until January so they may be able to hold them for you, if they can't manage the ladder you can just put a plank of wood up against it - mine were quite tatty and they managed a ramp from day one. Can you get in touch with the co-ordinator? It's only a four day difference, surely there must be some way of bridging the gap?

Good luck

As I said in my pm, look out for me on Saturday. I will be there from about 9am helping out and before anybody says anything I am NOT coming home with any no matter how bald or sweet they are. I think that 19 hens (well, 17 plus a he/she ex-batt and a cockerel) and 19 chicks are more than enough.
