Ygerna
about my hens and their eggs. Walking home from school with the children today, a lady stopped me and asked if I was the lady with the chickens in the garden. I of course said yes (secretly praying she wasnt going to complain ) and she asked if I would have any more eggs soon (sold out on Tuesday, donated a box to church today so 'Sold out' sign was on the door). Luckily, I had collected 4 eggs lunchtime, so I told her that I had 4 of th freshest eggs she would ever have tasted if she wanted them She started to say that she would go home and get some money, but, I told her to have a box and drop it in when she happened to be passing this way next. So far I have sold about 6 boxes of 4 eggs, and the rest have either been passed on to neighbours, friends or Church or of course eaten by us. At the moment I am selling 4 eggs for £1, which is cheaper than the free range ones in T.... but not as cheap as the Farm where I buy my Aubiose from but you have to drive to get there and I think people like the fact that these are (almost literally) on their doorstep. dancing cloud
What a lovely conversation to have . Word certainly gets around, but then there's nothing like a fresh free-range egg . Some mornings, people at work get a box with an egg in it that's still warm and they don't come much fresher than that. Some of the customers have also met the little monsters and then want to know whose eggs they've got - "Have I got a Clover (or whoever) egg today then?" is no longer viewed as an odd question in my office . Chillicat
Lovely! If I had enough money, I would design a little stamp for each of my girls....like the Lions stamp! I would then have special box label and present each egg as a jewel in a box............well, they are........aren't they

Mollystar
If you look in the £1 shops they sometimes have them little rubber stamps & ink pads for children to play with, each with a differant flower or catoon animal on etc
hils78
My mum had some shop eggs with the stamp on them which my daughter noticed, I happened to hear my mum very seriously telling my DD6 that chickens had stamps up their bums - slightly off topic but vaguely relevant!
