nutterly_uts
Having just had to chip concrete chicken poo from mud on my knees using a rake at the house end of the run fairly unsuccessfully I am looking for ideas on how to make my eglu more user friendly for cleaning? I currently un-clip the entire front off and use a rake to hoik all the bedding out, but its not a great method. How can I make it easier, short of cementing that whole bit of garden? Falkor
I just kneel on an old composr sack. Not a revolutionary idea, but it keeps my knees poo free!
nutterly_uts
I do that, but I find it very hard to rake the concrete poo/bedding from the door end of the eglu.
Falkor
Again this is not very helpful or dignified but I crawl into the run with a bucket and dig it out with a hand trowel! OH finds it highly amusing to shut me insuide the run
Ain't Nobody Here
OH finds it highly amusing to shut me insuide the run Sorry, shouldn't laugh . We take one end each and lift the whole eglu and run sideways so the whole run is exposed. Then you can dig and clear out to your heart's content . Granted it's not practical to do that every single week (although if you have a helpful OH or child it might be!)
Egluntyne
I used to blast everything into the surrounding soil with a jet washer, when my hens were in the Eglus. I then dug it all in and limed the area. It worked well. I used to give the Eglu a good blasting while I was at it.

TAJ
I drag eglu and run onto the grass and then can shovel up everything on the patio without the run in the way, then I pressure wash the patio and eglu - you can spray the front through the run bars easily. Then it all gets moved back in place, sprayed with Poultry shield - job done! Tracy Edited February 14, 2009 by Guest
