atsw
Hi there. Below you'll find a picture of two Columbines. These breeds are also known as "Skyline". If you do a Google Images search you're sure to find loads more pictures. Andrew
Guest
Are you getting them from Southmead Poultry? I got one from there in January and saw the Feb and March chicks under a lamp in one of the buildings - maybe yours were there??!!! Here are some pictures of my Skyline: They vary quite a lot in appearance. My one was the last one left in peachy-beige - the others were all a more red-brown. She is very 'skittish'. When I let her out to free-range she occasionally does a little dance-about and gives herself and all the other chickens a fright! I read in a book that Aracaunas (of which Skylines are a hybrid) are very good at keeping a lookout for danger. I thought of this today when I let the chickens out for half an hour when I got home at five o'clock. Juno, my Skyline came out and had a quick run around, and then was making quite a noise and had disappeared back into the run. It occured to me that she was 'upset' because it was dusk, and dusk is bedtime, and she didn't like the others being out and about when they should have been going to bed! Cooks
That's great news Josh (keep reading the book and checking up on facts you need to know) I think the skyline/columbines are a great choice and lovely as you get a good chance of getting blue/green eggs.
