purplekat
Hi, One of my chickens has a really mucky backend. Seems fine in herself and comb still large and red, droppings seem normal. What's the best way to clean her up? Kate x
Egluntyne
Warm water with a couple of drops of ecover washing up liquid, and a couple of old bits of towel . One to wash and the other to dry. A mucky bum can sometimes be a sign of worms, (often not visible to the naked eye) so it might be worth giving a course of Flubenvet. Jonny
Mine have a mucky backend because they sleep in the nest box and poo in it
The Dogmother
Best to check them for lice too, an infestation can make their botty feathers clump together, and the poo gets caught in their fluff more easily. Two of mine had dirty bums and I washed them at the weekend, they've also been wormed and treated for lice as three of my flock had lice when I checked.
