mock trial

Recommended Posts

Please may I have some good luck vibes for tomorrow morning. My son's school team is taking part in a Mock Trial competition at the magistrates' court where I occasionally work. They have worked really hard and have a reputation to keep up as last year's team made it to the national final.

I keep telling them (and myself) that the experience will be the most important thing but I find myself getting really nervous!

I will let you know how they get on!

Well done to your son, jlo! I am a barrister and I run a mock trial competition in the Manchester Crown Courts and you can tell your son from me that a. most barristers would NEVER have had the guts to do what they do at their age and b. every year we are massively impressed by the standard of the performances. It's a wonderful experience and we old fogies enjoy it hugely. Good luck for the next round! :D

alih - is that the one set up by the Citizenship Foundation or is is one that you do yourself? I have been helping the Year Tens and Elevens at my children's school as they have won through to the National Final of the Bar Mock Trial run by the CF and we will be going to the Old Bailey at the end of March. I am really proud of them as most of the other students involved in this one are sixth form.

I am a barrister too but not a proper one!! I am a Legal Adviser in a Mags Court and will be judging some other schools next week at my normal court. It is fair to say that I will be well and truly mock trialled out by the end of this month!

It's the CF one, though I have to say I have now handed it over due to increased family commitments. There is an independent schools' one too up here in Manchester.

Not a proper barrister indeed! Reckon legal advisers in the mags have more experience of the system than most.

Hope all the mocks go well. My oldest daughter has just signed up for a debating competition with her school, having never shown any interest before :? Am delighted!
