Avalon Fantasy
Ok so looking at that opener your thinking ....what??? It is ( I`m thinking I shouldnt write "beyond belief" as I suspect it isnt...) But give me a break..Owls winging their way down the aisle to deliver your wedding rings????????????????? Hits head on the desk... To quote boris becker of years ago.. " You cannot be serious" Ohh but they are.... very very serious... its at this point that I find myself glad that I keep all manner of weirdo gubbins in pockets.. I`m just ferreting about for a sick bag... Its got to be a footballers wife/gf thingy....blah. Ok each to their own I know, its what makes the world go around..but honestly..I`ve been in the wedding business for some not inconsiderable years and this has to be the mickey take of the year.. I adore owls, I adore chickens. and fluffy creatures, and yes I humanise (sp) my darling chicks, but I genuinely draw a line at doing a wedding where an owl is let free by a handler to swoop gracefully along the aisle to drop off your rings... I wonder if I could train chikky?? LOL Just about to post this when I get a *tweet* back.. omg mr ferdinand of the football persuasion is said to be having the owl thing at his wedding....................... Olly
Could you be sure they'd drop them at the right point? And what if they, er, accidentally dropped something else on their way to the happy couple? (BTW, it was John McEnroe, not Boris, who did the 'you cannot be serious' thing! )
Couperwife
Ive just read this 3 times trying to work out what you are talking about are you really serious someone is having owls (OWLS? ) flying down the aisle (or central walkway - aisles are the ones at the side - not the middle ) to drop off the rings and rio ferdinand is doing this more money than sense is coming into my head cathy x
Avalon Fantasy
Ohh god yes.. sorry..the brain went into overdrive with the horror of such a thing truly happening..Laughing ... ee gads... I got this tweet, and remembered I had half read something in the guardian, double checked and thought this was insanity gone made...(if you know what I mean...) So yes I stand corrected you are absolutely right ! Sorry Boris if you`re reading!!!
Avalon Fantasy
ok... right everyone..whatever I said about aisles, and tennis players..please ignore... I was sooo damned shocked about the owl flying down the middle bit to drop off the rings that I could hardly think straight... Seriously... google it.... I`m getting a glass of wine.. any one else.. Olly
You're not imagining it ... take a look here. What's scary is that if you google 'Owls + wedding rings' it comes up with several companies offering this service, he's not the first! It would make me think of Harry Potter too much ... Couperwife
I`m getting a glass of wine.. any one else.. oh yes please, can I have lemonade with mine, im at work in the morning (means I can have twice as much ) I wasnt meaning to pull you up about aisles , but I saw QI the other day and Steven fry was saying that the aisle wasnt the bit the brides walk down, but the central walkway (or whatever he called it) didnt sound as romantic clink! nice wine, where did you get it? slurp cathy x
Olly
you are right Cathy, everyone talks about 'walking down (or up) the aisle' but technically it's the nave, if it's the central bit of the church! Pour me a glass too, it's been a long day ...
Avalon Fantasy
Seriously, when things are done in good humour I dont mind anyone pulling me up on things.. I was sooo dumbfounded at this notion that I couldnt think straight for typing! And this is the first.. its a nice glass of marlborough sauvignon blanc.. so chin chin everyone.. Here...you know I was thinking( this is not always a good thing) what IF someone cant afford an Owl service..(titter) hmm do any of the Omleteers here have obediant chicks that could scoot down and deliver not only the rings but an egg too... Bet that would beat an owl anyday! LOL
Couperwife
hey, my girls are totally obedient nearly as obedient as the cat, who will sit on my knee the second I ask her to (or is that just the second im about to sit down ) oh, maybe ive had a little too much wine go on then, another glass wont hurt cathy x
Olly
well someone posted on here recently about wanting to involve her chickens in the wedding in some way! Mine are very disobedient, although I suppose a trail of mealworms laid down the carpet might do the job ... so would lobbing a cherry tomato at the bride and groom, you'd have a chicken down the end of the aisle (nave) in no time! Maybe you should contact Rio and offer your services, tell him owls are old hat, everyone's done that already.
Plum
You better pour me a glass too. Can I have white. Cheers.
Avalon Fantasy
LMAO!..ok... so whos composing this little letter then.. *pours the wine and indeed the added lemonade... Dear Mr Ferdinand; You dont` know us, but a little bird has told us that you are considering an owl ring bearer, whilst this is an idea of sorts, we would like to point out that it is sooooooooo last year. All the very best people are using Chickens, not only for their innate good sence but that they will also make a delightful deposit of a golden egg (ok so I`m fibbing but someone down the back of the vestry could quickly gold leaf an egg surely?) Plum
Olly can do that, she's very good.

Snowy
This is hilarious! How are all your heads this morning?? But now I have this image in my head of someone at the back of the church quickly lobbing a tomato down the aisle, followed by a bustle of chickens, feather bloomers flapping, racing down the 'nave' Priceless! Olly
Can I just point out that I was stone cold sober (so there's no excuse for me ) Promises, promises - I sat by the computer for ages, but no wine appeared. I love the idea of the gold-leaf egg, that could easily be arranged. You'd have to have a good aim with the cherry tomato though!
Old Speckled Hen
You're not imagining it ... take a look here. if you google' it comes up with several companies offering this service, he's not the first! Blimey this took me back to my youth. 35 years ago I was at a friends wedding. The couple were married in a country church then went outside into the church yard where they had a blessing. You couldn't marry outside in those days. The Groom's Harris Hawk (I think it was though I may be wrong) swooped down to deliver two blessing rings. the bride wore wild flowers entwined in her hair and looked like a fairy. The hawk had silver bits in his feathers. We all thought they were sooooooooooo coooooooooool
Avalon Fantasy
Waves good morning..my heads ok..I`m always like this... The Omlet wedding............................ Da, I still do renaissance weddings, although none of my couples have admited to any flying creatures.... Avalon Fantasy
Chuckles, Thanks for the lovely comments.. you would be surprised where my creations have been seen, I suppose its down to the fact that whilst you see what you see onsite as it were, most of my work is bespoke, so someone looks at it gets an idea then we talk about their needs and its then that I find out usually. although of course not always where or how they will use it. Oh I`ve just had a thought, I wonder if I could do some swarovski covered silk bag for the owl to carry the rings in? L
