Single hen

She's finally laid her first egg, (well I am guessing it's her's as it's blood smeared and weighs 43g), it's a creamy/white egg with the teesiest blue speckles on it, so I dont know whether she will develop her colour or if this is what she will lay

 

Here's one of hers alongside Sugars of yesterday and day before. Sugar has not laid today the other 2 girls have.

edited to add Sugar is in the nest box laying now so it looks like a full house here!

 

Dory also laid a 71g egg today!

 

I am wondering now whether Flo's egg colour will develop or whether I will get cream. typical really as I have a cream egg layer already.. good job she's cute!

If I end up with Flo laying cream (almost white infact) that'll prove the earlobe theory is no good, she clearly has green tinged earlobes... or she did the other day..

it does have blue speckles on one side, but I think I will end up with a very very light cream egg layer

 

never mind they all look lovely in my chicken egg holder and like my younger son put it, 'it's only the shell, they all taste the same'

If her ears are coloured the egg colour may be on it's way. My columbine who is laying instead of has white ears, so there is still hope .

edited to say I have just turned my colour back up on my screen (it was turned down low after the boys were fiddling with the colume and got colour instead) and wow it looks really dark now!

no, this is it now the boys are over the moon so they are not bothered

 

I did speak to the farmer I got them from (about soemthing else) and he seemed surprised they were cream so I am looking at it that I in in the minority so therefore cream skyline egg layers are rare to find.. LOLOL

I think the forum members should all club together and buy a MASSIVE farm.......the fields will be full of and chooks!!

 

It would look like someone threw a bag of MnM`s into the air and they all landed

 

We could have a chook of EVERY breed, think of all the then!
