Sky
Well the chickens have been here a week now and are gradually working their way (in their Ark) around our lawn near the house. We were hoping to move them further down but like watching them so much from the window that we are relucant to move them down near the field. They are certainly great time wasters. Yesterday when it was warm we introduced the dust bath and they all spent all day taking their turns in it. We have had 6 eggs from Nora now although the other four are still a few weeks away from contributing in that department. I haven't let them out yet (a) because of the dogs (b) because I am a little worried that they might take off over the fence and away and © because the fox is a frequent visitor to these parts even during the day. I will soon pluck up the courage to do this, with the dogs locked inside the house and with me following them round all the time. Hubby is making a lovely extension to the run at the moment as well so they have plenty of room to move around. All in all I can't understand why we haven't done this before. I absolutely adore the girls and they have very quickly become part of our family. Thanks also for all the info on this site, it has been invaluable and it is very reassuring to know that answers to problems are always available here. Hen Watch
They are certainly great time wasters. And it doesn't change..... even after 2 years. Hubbie is always moaning at me about spending too much time with the chickens.

fluffyfeet
My OH's favourite sentence at the moment is "you're not on about those chickens again are you". Mind you I think they're getting to him as well. One of our girls was very broody last week and he put his hand under her to check for eggs. She did that 'i'm just getting comfy again' wiggle and proceeded to treat OH's hand just like an egg - his facial expression was priceless! tidygirlsuk
I think they should start a forum for the husbands/OH that have lost there wives to chickens. he he. Mine is thinking of swapping me for new wife, I said 'i'll make sure my new man likes chickens, he says ' good luck with 3 kids'. I said 'who would say no to fresh eggs for breakfast. We love each other to bits really
