Kirstine
I came home from work to a lovely surprise today! You may remember that a few weeks ago we tried to adopt a little brown hen called Harriet from the SSPCA in Edinburgh, but she went to some other lovely home. Today, the SSPCA phoned DH to say that they had another chicken, and would we like to adopt her? He was off with his cat box like a shot, and she is now installed in 'chicken central', our smaller house with WIR. No name yet, and I don't want to name her breed in case anyone has lost her, in which case pm me, but she is a pure breed bantam and very beautiful and friendly - not at all likely to have been abandoned, I don't think. We are told that she laid an egg yesterday, her first since being rescued and possibly her first ever!
Olly
How marvellous! I long for a Chicken of Fate ... I'm sorry someone has lost her, but for your sake I hope they don't claim her!

Omletina Kyckling
How marvellous! I long for a Chicken of Fate ... Me too!!! Perhaps we should set up a database where we put that we want a chicken of fate and we could all "leave" a chicken in one anothers gardens?!! Or would that be cheating? By the way, congratulations on your COF!!
SAB
Fantastic News! I had remembered that SSPCA had taken your name in case Harriet still needed a home, and had wondered if they would bear you in mind for any future chooks - well done them and well done you . Hello little chicken of fate I notice 2 of your chooks are called Brighton and Hove - that is interesting - I used to live down there years ago, whilst doing postgrad and at this time of year I always get yearnings to be there!
