Mrs Webmuppet
This morning LMW greeted me with news that Petals had blood all over her face. It would seem on closer examination that she's got a tiny nick out of her comb. I've put her in the old chicken house pending getting some purple spray ( if the shop stocks it). Once I've patched her up, is it ok to put her back with the others? They are making a right old fuss about being separated. Poor thing it looks like she laid a softy too.....I found a crumpled shell in one poo tray and the rest of the egg in the other tray. She appears to be ok in herself and is having a right strop about being in solitary confinement.
chelsea
I think she will be ok back in with the others as long as the blood has stopped. My little ones have pecked combs at the moment as I have a broody in the nest box who pecks anyone if they dare enter. Maybe until you have the purple spray pop some vaseline or tea tree cream/savlon on the comb. The injury usually "blackens" and becomes crusty on the comb. Mrs Webmuppet
Good news. I got some purple spray at the shop ( it's only a 10 min drive away), Petals has been cleaned up , sprayed with purple spray and re-united with the gang. Harmony has ressumed. Petals comb now matches the Cube and I have a lovely purple finger nail. I've put the softie down to the fact she is new to this egg laying lark ( she had only laid one egg prior to the softy and that had a dodgy shell). They already get limestone flour in their food so I assume its just down to novice egg laying.

Mrs Webmuppet
Hi Palmer 07, If you can't get any purple spray let me know and I'll pick some up for you. and pop it in the post. The shop is on the way to work so it wouldn't need a special trip. I got Aloe Vera Purple spray, it was £7.25.
