ajp233
I got my current chickens (4 in total) in October last year, all supposed to be POL. Within about 6 weeks two of them started laying but the other two still show no signs of laying anything and their combs haven't developed either. Is this normal? Is it possible that some hens just never lay?
Chickvic
What breeds are they? I know some take a long time but that seems like an extremely long wait
TAJ
I have read some of the older breeds are not fully matured until 18 months to 2 years - the breed is important in assessing if this is late. Tracy
Griffin
I bought some POL ladies last November and it was only last month that Primrose started to grow headgear and within days she started laying. Juliet hardly has any headgear but she's laying too so there is plenty of hope left for yours.
ajp233
The breeds that haven't developed yet are a Gold Star (Meadowsweet Ranger) and White Star from Meadowsweet Poultry - http://www.meadowsweetpoultry.co.uk/poultry.htm
Omletina Kyckling
I have a copper black from Merrydale Poultry which I bought last June and she has never laid an egg and her comb hasn't developed either! I keep hoping she'll lay this year!!
