She is having one of her canine teeth (why don't cats have feline teeth ) out today and a clean and descale.

 

She broke the tooth when she had an encounter with a fox when we had only had her for a couple of weeks. the vet said at the time that the tooth would eventually have to come out because it would decay.

 

She is having a general and had to go without both supper and breakfast which she didn't like because she is very greedy cat.

Lots of hugs and well wishes to Scamp from my Puddy and Loki. Hope all goes well and my greedy-Puddy-on-a-diet totally empathises with the whole wot-no-dinner experience!

Do you have the same problem that we have with one greedy and one doesn't eat enough?

 

We have to have food down all the time because Ziggy only eats tiny amounts at any one time. Scamp then comes along and eats the rest. We have to sneak Ziggy treats when Scamp is well out of ear shot

 

Ziggy is a much smaller cat in terms of build as well as weight. They came to us as sisters from the Cats protection. One vet said he doubted that they were but human siblings are often a very different body build and it is quite common to get black & white and tabby kittens in the same litter. When the sun shines on Scamp's black fur you can see stripes in it too so that makes me think that they are related. They also have quite long faces and Scamp is quite long in the body, she weighs about a third more than Ziggy but I wouldn't describe her as fat.

I have tubby Puddy who can eat her own weight in food and still have room for more and who considers she has had sufficient exercise for the day if she's had to walk from her bed to her bowl. She is now on a very strict diet

 

Then there's Loki picky-boy who loves a good run round outside, but has to have his food rotated regularly or he won't eat it and will just yowl loudly for more. Oh and he wants to see it come out of the pouch too, not already be on the plate, and he really prefers it if you show him the pouch before you open it ... . He gets fed on the kitchen unit so that he can pick in peace, or tubby Pud would just commandeer his food as well. So far she can't quite manage the jump onto the unit, but now she's a lot lighter there's always a danger she'll get there someday.

 

My two are not related and I adopted Loki thinking it would be good for Pud to have a friend and she might move a bit more. He adored her from first sight - it's never been mutual!

My bigger cat eats only a little amount a few times a day (I'm ashamed to say whenever they ask for it ) and yet the little thin one Dave seems to eat all day long, very wierd.

 

I don't know why I've never got them in to eating twice a day they just prefer to do it their way. Sophie will always ask for her dinner as soon as I've sat down though!

Our big older cat, Mellow, had what sounds like an identical procedure about 1 1/2 years ago. His tooth had been cracked and wobbly since he was hit by a car when he was only 6 months old - he's 14 now. He had to have a couple of other teeth removed at the same time due to wear and tear but recovered really quickly.

She is fine if a little giddy on the drugs she has been given. She has been purring and rolling and generally acting like a happy drunk all evening.

 

It was quite a job to get the tooth out and she has got quite a few stitches so she will be sore when the drugs wear off, but up to now she is ok. They gave us a pouch of easy to digest food for her and she gobbled it down so fast she got gravy all over her face She has since eaten most of 2 more pouches.

Just caught up with this... it's lovely to hear Scamp is doing fine...

 

We've had a pet traumatic week, with rat teeth acting up, cat going missing and re-appearing, and another get getting a serious cut on his tongue... so fully sympathising with Scamp and her having to fast and going through all that...

 

Our three 'kittens' (now aged nearly two but still referred to as kittens, as opposed to the 'oldies' who are only 5) are all siblings, one is black and white and stocky with a heart condition, one is smaller but long-haired tabby who looks huge but isn't, and one is leaner and white!!! Cat siblings can be very different...

 

By the way, I liked seeing the cats' names on this thread. Ziggy the cat, and Dave the cat... that's me and my hubby , Ziggy and Dave... I wish I could be like Ziggy the cat and eat little and be on the small side (sigh)

I must say I do envy her, she is slim and very beautiful but she is a bit of a diva too Scamp is just as daft as a brush and has a big personality to go with her big body

 

She has amazed me today by constantly demanding food and seeming as though nothing has happened
