Guest
not at all.. (I don't send text messages!) but there is a proper rule for which there is a name (that I can't remember) which states: Any post that criticises spelling or grammar on an internet forum will itself contain a spelling or grammar mistake. You seem to have confirmed the rule!! (That's all!) Don't be offended - but you did say you were in teacher mode, and you were pointing out a spelling mistake. These are perfect conditions for the rule to apply. (Theyre's bounde too bee a mistace oar too in this post two - if you want to get your red pen out... ) Phil

Guest
I'm a bit anally retentive when it comes to spelling. If I post and then see a mistake - I have to go back and edit it. The few text messages that I have sent (on my 10yr-old brick of a mobile phone) take me so long because I physically cannot bring myself to write in text-speak. What kind of a saddo am I? As for the dictionary being on the shelf... that's not likely! It's more likely to be under that groundsheet over there, or behind that pile of mail, or down the back of the fridge.... Lesley
I like to have the dictionary at no more than an arms length away most of the time. (not all of the time ) How sad is that

Cate in NZ
I spell my text messages correctly, and I even punctuate them too The children groan when I send a text because it takes me so long . I prefer things to be spelled correctly and dislike poor grammar and punctuation , I think it's all about doing things properly, they call it being pedantic . OK, they might have a point . That said I don't type very well.... and I know that I've regularly let a few typos through. Grammar .... that last sentence looks wrong..... typos is a plural, therefore, not 1 typo, several typos.... it looks as if I should write typo's but that would mean belonging to the typo, as in that is typo's. I'm sticking with typos... I'm sure that it is right, even if it looks wrong
Guest
"typos" is right. "typo's" would be an abomination! fill
Cate in NZ
Just for a change I thought I'd return this thread back to topic I was reading in the paper last night that Richard Hammond is recovering well, and is expected to spend the next 10 days or so recuperating in hospital but will be discharged home within a fortnight Sounds as if he must be doing well then Oh, and they've resumed filming on Top Gear as well. Mrs Frugal
Considering how critical he was at the time of the accident, his recovery is quite miraculous, isn't it! Just shows the brain's power of recovery in some cases, doesn't it.
