A chickychickychick-ENN!!
So who had a flutter? I forgot, but I've won something the past three years with my one pound bets. I never put more than a quid on. It's for fun, not proper gambling. My money would have been on Offshore Account for giggles.

Seagazer
Who won then? My daughter asked my hubby to put a bet on for her (she's in France) but we didn't bother to bet this year.

Seagazer
Well if anybody put money on Mon Mome they will be quids in! 100:1 winner!!! I'm gutted - that would have been the one that I would have put a bet on. My OH was reading the list out to DD over the phone and because it sounds french I thought she would have gone for it. Then I though I'll bet on it but decided not to bother We would have done £5 or £10 - that could have paid off the run!!!!
Ain't Nobody Here
My OH has a sweepstake at work for the Grand National. One of his colleagues was off so OH picked a horse for him. Guess which one he picked . (I've suggested swopping the names but he's far too honest .)
Seagazer
Doh! Thats very honest of him. My DD had the 2nd placed one but I don't think the winnings cover the bet.....
Redwing
I betted on horses that had Chelsea, Snowy and Ollie in their names as they are forum names (or nearly in the case of Olly) I lost
Valkyrie
Never - one year at work (in a bank) the accountant took 50p from my till after I flatly refused to join his sweepstake - he said he didn't care because he knew I would put my own money back in for the till to balance at the end of the day. This was done in front of witnesses - I was very angry.

Valkyrie
I suppose yes - but in those days I was a bit of a mouse. Nowadays I am a right old dragon - if it were recent years he wouldn't even have dared - but then I would have been transferred to a different branch for upsetting the apple cart - something that was done to many that dared speak up! I suppose things have moved on a bit (well I hope so - I encountered quite a bit of you know what harrassment working in a couple of City stockbrokers). Griffin
I had money each way on the second and fourth so made a small profit I'm the deputy manager in the bookies in town and it was my weekend to run the shop. Saturday was busier than ever but everything ran smoothly. I was very pleased with myself for proving I was capable of coping with it all Quite a few people backed the winner which was surprising. Our biggest payout was almost £1300 because somebody had £10 ew. For security reasons all our shops closed early on Saturday night which actually was a shame for me because a) we hardly had any cash left in the shop anyway so it was a pointless exercise and b) I still had loads of work to catch up on! So I ended up going in two hours early yesterday morning UNPAID to get it all done Apart from the race the highlight of the day has to be a woman who won about £700 squeeling with delight and doing a little dance around my shop She's a once-a-year punter and it brought her so much joy.
