No I've not done a total U turn on 6 year olds and tellies. He decided to make one - complete with remote control. He was watching it in bed whilst he went to sleep tonight!!!!

DD had her own Apple laptop by the age of 3, loving made from cardboard with a pull-out mousepad and floppy disc drive. She still has it, even though she has a real laptop. It just goes to show that James and DD both have good imaginations.

The parental control button springs to mind! Nice to see youngsters playing and making things for a change compared to sitting in front of a screen - oops thats what I am doing too Also not a fan of televisions in their bedrooms - maybe I AM old fashioned but a good book did them the world of good.

I can remember making a 'TV', although my family didn't actually own a tv set. Even if we had, this was in the days when there were only three channels and tv was only on for certain hours in the day!

 

We used to get a long strip of paper, draw a picture on it, fix a knitting needle to each end and then 'wind' it backwards and forwards so that the picture moved across the back of the box. See - TV!

 

Life was sooo simple in those days ...
